Mpc Guitar

MPC Guitar

An MPC Guitar, or mpctar is a guitar that's been modified by removing the pickups and strings and replacing them with a pad based drum machine; specifically an Akai MPC/ MPD series instrument, enabling the player to trigger and play and or record various electronic sounds in real time with performance mobility.

Certain models may or may not require the use of a digital audio workstation.

Concept and Creation

Nayokenza was inspired to create their own version of MPC guitar after watching a band member for Korean musician Seo Taiji perform in 2008 using a guitar that had been modified with an Akai MPC 500.

Mark 1 and Mark 2

In 2010 Nayokenza created their Mark 1 MPC guitar by attaching a Akai MPD 18 into the body of an electric guitar.

Later in 2015 they would create the Mark 2 by attaching an Akai MPD 218 to the same guitar body.
